Once my project manager asked me the question:
do you have any pro-acitve way of getting informed that if a receive location gets disabled ???
well i dint, but i googled it and i found the solution listed here:

Often developers go about re-inventing the wheel…stop…dont do it !!!
others have done it… & chances are that they probably have done it better then you by investing there time & efforts in it, well atleast microsoft claims it has
